August 25, 2007 - East Coast Premiere
Our East Coast Premiere was a tremendous success. Our guests had such a great time they asked that we make it an annual event and we are happy to comply. Click here to see highlights of the event.

July 27, 2007 - Elixir Fund’s 4th Annual Live and Silent Auction Our 4th annual Live and Silent Auction was a success for The Elixir Fund. It was held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

A special thank you to everyone who contributed toward the event, and also to everyone who attended.

July 21st - Fundraiser at Chiropractic West
Once again Dr. Pear and her incredible staff hosted another successful fundraiser. On July 21st Dr. Pear donated the proceeds from the days appointments at her Chiropractic office to the Elixir Fund. We raised over $1200 and had a fantastic time talking to her patients about the Elixir Fund. Our thanks to all of Dr. Pear's patients who participated or sent donations, to Jennifer Ota, Amber Post, Dawn Landon, Dr. Pear. Our thanks also to Carole & Elizabeth McQuarrie who helped to run the Elixir table.

July 16th - Mini-MakeOver Day

The Elixir Fund hosted another Mini-MakeOver Day on July 16th. Patients and caregivers were treated to hair, makeup, manicures, and massage in our "spa" in the Radiation Oncology conference room at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. We also went upstairs to visit patients in their rooms and to the Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) where patients are treated on an outpatient basis.

Patients and family members were thrilled with the pampering. One grateful spouse asked if we could be there every time her husband came for treatment. We also managed to provide massages for two patients at the AIC who were there for their first day of chemotherapy.

Once again we had a fantastic set of volunteers who left thanking us for including them. Stacy Phillips and Nina Ruiz from the Cerritos College Cosmetology Program provided hairstyling and manicure services; Heather Coopersmith, of For Reel Makeup and Linnie Sohler, a Mary Kay representative provided makeup; and Mark Reyes and Linda Hamm provided hand and foot massage to patients as well as staff.

Elixir Fund and Capessa - A few months ago Executive Director, Meg McQuarrie, was asked to participate in a website that was being built to showcase the stories of women and how they have changed their lives. We were honored to be asked to share the story of Elixir and are pleased to announce that the website, www.capessa.com is now live. To view Meg's page, please follow this link to "Laughter is the Best Medicine." Our thanks to Capessa for including our story.
