Our thanks to all who donated to our #GivingTuesdayNow fundraiser. We were able to provide direct grants to over 20 families in the Hunterdon and Mercer County areas. The recipients are truly grateful and we wanted to share that with you. Below is a letter that we received from Christina Murphy, the social worker at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center that referred grant recipients to us.

Dear Elixir Fund & Meg McQuarrie,

On behalf of myself and the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center I would like to sincerely thank you for all for the tremendous assistance that you have brought to our patients during these very trying times. Each patient and family member has been so incredibly gracious of the generosity and kindness that you have showed them. Many were brought to tears in gratitude to be able to pay off their numerous overdue medical and home bills.

As a social worker I aspire to provide as much help as I can to our patients, but I rely heavily on the community to support the needs of our compromised populations. With organizations like the Elixir Fund, I was able to give some peace of mind. A task that has been so difficult during times of nothing but uncertainty.

Meg, I would like to personally show my gratitude for being so great to work with. I cannot thank you enough for first reaching out to our Cancer Center and second for your prompt responses. The east of the application was also greatly appreciated on my part. Each patient was wonderfully surprised to receive their donation within a few days of referral.

Again, thank you all so much for selecting the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center for your generous Covid-19 donations. Please know that your donations went to many patients in great need and who are more than thankful for all that you have done for them. I look forward to continuing to work with your organization.

Thank you,

Christina Murphy, LCSW
